Logistics Coordinator

About the role

The Logistics Coordinator will support the Commercial division of Sovereign, a national supplier of chicken products operating across five provinces. Reporting to the Senior Divisional Financial Manager, the role ensures smooth information flow between the company and its logistics providers and manages transport‑related costs.

Key responsibilities

• Collate and maintain documentation, reports and transport requisitions.
• Liaise with transport providers and internal stakeholders to verify rate changes and resolve queries.
• Review accuracy and validity of transport rates and minimise exposure to excess pallet and crate stock.
• Prepare and submit payment‑related documentation and purchase requisitions.
• Administer the CHEP online Portfolio Plus system where applicable.

Required profile

• Matric certificate with Mathematics.
• Intermediate computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel.
• Prior experience in a logistics environment.
• Basic understanding of procurement and the transport industry.
• Strong time‑management, numeracy and communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).
• Working with databases.
• Familiarity with the CHEP Portfolio Plus system (advantageous).
