Account Manager – Freight Forwarding

About the role

The Account Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key freight forwarding accounts at DSV’s Struandale Facility in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on growing existing business, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and supporting customers through daily operational queries.

Key responsibilities

• Handle customer queries, coordinate with operations to resolve issues and support out‑of‑ordinary freight requirements such as CODs and hand‑carrys.
• Maintain and update the CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics) with meetings, leads, opportunities and contact information.
• Conduct weekly operational meetings with customers and regular client calls (target 8 calls per week), including CBRs and QBRs.
• Identify and present opportunities for business growth, insurance, customs consultancy and additional revenue within the assigned portfolio.
• Compile and present monthly management reports, manage customer statements, overdues and invoice queries.
• Manage tenders, RFQs and price increase processes to secure existing lanes and win new business.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a freight forwarding environment handling end‑to‑end processes.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a client‑retention role, with proven track record in managing freight RFQs and tenders.
• Experience in client liaison, forwarding operations and business development.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics CRM for account management.
