Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will support the audit function by planning, executing, and reporting on internal audits across the organisation. Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure audits are aligned with the global internal audit standards and delivered on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engagement documents, define audit scope and timing in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Execute audits in line with Global Internal Audit Standards, including data analytics to identify trends and control weaknesses.
• Develop audit working papers, address escalated queries, and monitor audit progress.
• Produce concise findings reports, facilitate exit meetings, and present results to management and governance committees.
• Track follow‑up actions, review quarterly status for the Audit Committee, and contribute to risk assessments.
• Participate in Audit Committee meetings, combined assurance activities, and provide regular updates on audit plan implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Registration with the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA) preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CA, or a diploma/certification in Data Analytics are advantageous.

Required skills

• Understanding of audit principles, IPPF and Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and internal financial controls knowledge.
• IT General Controls (ITGC), application controls, and cybersecurity principles.
• Data analytics and Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs).
