Instrumentation Technician – Kwastina, Carletonville

About the role

A well‑established leader in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join its engineering team in Kwastina, Carletonville. The role focuses on maintaining and fault‑finding on instrumentation, process control and automation systems while supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair instrumentation, process control and automation systems.
• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance.
• Conduct PLC, HMI/SCADA, VSD and instrumentation fault finding.
• Support robotics, motion control and industrial networking systems.
• Assist with electrical fault finding and panel building up to 525 V.
• Maintain process control software and critical spares.
• Provide technical support to production.
• Support continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives.
• Supervise subordinates and ensure safe, efficient work completion.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Instrumentation‑related trade qualification, minimum T2 or N5.
• At least 5 years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician or similar.
• Manufacturing or industrial production background.
• Strong experience with PLC, HMI/SCADA, VSD, automation and instrumentation.
• Electrical fault‑finding experience up to 525 V.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
