Industrial Electrician – Maintenance & Safety

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Electrician to lead mechanical and electrical maintenance for its branch. The role supports the Boiler Maker/Welder and Plant Manager while ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate staff workload and guide daily activities of General Worker Maintenance.
• Operate, implement and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, including PLC‑controlled systems.
• Develop and follow electrical asset care plans and conduct planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Respond promptly to urgent breakdowns that affect plant efficiency or product quality.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and ensure all work is performed under lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Capture accurate daily maintenance data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Uphold quality and safety standards, including hot‑work permits, confined‑space entry and elevated‑work permits.
• Communicate expectations to subordinates and manage any related expenditure within budget.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a valid Trade Test – Electrician qualification.
• Valid Code 08/EB driver’s licence.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar industrial maintenance role.
• Experience with automation, conveyors and PLC controls.
• Strong mechanical and electrical abilities and knowledge of electrical legislation.
• Excellent understanding of safety rules in a manufacturing environment.
