HR Generalist

About the role

Our client, a leading FMCG retailer in Cape Town, is seeking an HR Generalist to manage the full spectrum of human resources activities within the Operations and Logistics departments.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate recruitment, selection, induction and onboarding processes.
• Manage all HR processes throughout the employment cycle in line with policy and legislation.
• Oversee appointments, transfers and promotions.
• Handle employee relations, including code‑of‑conduct implementation, stakeholder communication, and representation at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Administer employee benefits.
• Guide management through disciplinary procedures.
• Provide HR support to the operations department.
• Partner with line management on performance management and employee engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the HR team and business stakeholders to achieve strategic HR objectives.
• Resolve staff enquiries and monitor compliance with company policies.
• Participate in HR projects and ad‑hoc assignments.

Required profile

• Completed three‑year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management.
• 2–3 years of experience in an HR role, with a focus on industrial relations and recruitment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation.
• Experience handling CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
