Head of Engineering – Mpumalanga

About the role

The company, an international leader in processing and renewable resources, is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead all maintenance, engineering and project activities at its Mpumalanga facility. The role begins with a six‑month, fully funded training programme in the United Kingdom under the Global Head of Engineering, after which the successful candidate will return to South Africa to implement best‑practice processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage on‑site maintenance, engineering and project portfolios.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation across the plant.
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, execution and reporting.
• Mentor, develop and performance‑manage the engineering and maintenance team.
• Manage engineering budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Report on KPIs such as downtime, labour utilisation and breakdown analysis.
• Implement stock control systems and asset logging for the entire facility.

Required profile

• Strong engineering leadership experience in manufacturing, agriculture, processing or heavy industry.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication abilities.
• Hands‑on, methodical and solutions‑driven attitude.
• Ability to motivate technical teams and drive accountability.
• Willingness to work on‑site five days a week.
• Mechanical or electrical engineering degree preferred.
