Group IT Operations and Security Officer

About the role

Luxaviation Group is seeking a senior professional to lead IT operations and cybersecurity across the organisation. Based in Johannesburg, the role reports to the Group Chief Information and Technology Officer and ensures that all IT systems run smoothly while protecting digital assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group‑level IT operations to guarantee high performance, reliability and uninterrupted service.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve cybersecurity policies, procedures and training, including NIS2 compliance.
• Coordinate incident response and manage recovery during cyber‑security breaches or infrastructure failures.
• Monitor emerging threats, regulatory changes and conduct proactive risk management.
• Ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR and maintain relevant certifications.
• Provide strategic and technical advice to senior leadership on technology investments and system upgrades.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure deployment (Azure, AWS) ensuring scalability, security and integration with on‑premise systems.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• Proven experience managing IT operations and implementing cybersecurity strategies in a large organisation.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, networking and IT infrastructure management.
• Experience with incident response and cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, delegate tasks and oversee large projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
