Financial Controller

About the role

Join a dynamic finance team in Johannesburg where you will lead financial reporting, ensure compliance, and drive strategic insights. The role reports to senior finance leadership and oversees a team of finance professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the finance team, managing performance and development.
• Review correction journals, general ledger allocations and monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Review and approve monthly VAT reconciliations and VAT returns, and support SARS VAT objections and appeals.
• Ensure intercompany loan accounts reconcile accurately each month.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
• Analyse financial information to identify variances and ensure accurate GL allocations.
• Assist with debtor queries, third‑party invoicing and bad‑debt assessments.
• Develop, implement and maintain finance policies for VAT, fixed assets, intercompany loans and related processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline finance processes.
• Provide strategic and operational finance support to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role.
• Proven experience managing a finance team (at least 3 direct reports).
• Strong financial management and reporting expertise.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with MDA or Broll Online.
