Financial Accountant (Remote)

About the role

Cape Crowd, a Cape Town-based hospitality group with cafés, bars and restaurant concepts, is looking for a Financial Accountant to take full ownership of its finance function and replace its existing accounting firm. This is a hands-on, full-function role covering day-to-day reconciliations through to annual financial statements, with real autonomy and minimal oversight. It is full-time and fully remote, with one in-person check-in meeting each week in Cape Town (Seapoint).

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile supplier accounts and manage supplier loading and authorisation.
• Run payroll and process loans.
• Prepare balance sheets and P&Ls, and monitor gross profit and overhead reporting.
• Manage VAT, PAYE and UIF compliance.
• Prepare Annual Financial Statements and liaise directly with the auditor and tax advisor.

Required profile

• Solid full-function bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally having run finances independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable owning supplier reconciliations, loading and authorising.
• Confident running payroll end to end and processing loans.
• Self-directed, dependable and comfortable working remotely without close oversight.

Required skills

• Balance sheet and P&L preparation, gross profit monitoring and overhead reporting.
• VAT, PAYE and UIF.
• Annual Financial Statements and direct liaison with auditors and tax advisors.
