Claims Client Carrier Relationship Officer

About the role

Marsh is looking for a Claims Client Carrier Relationship Officer in Johannesburg. The role offers exposure to many small to medium-sized clients and some of the largest insurers in South Africa, in a fast-paced, well-structured and paperless claims environment. It sits within a global organisation and provides a solid platform to grow technical skills in insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Review incoming documentation and seek guidance where needed
• Identify potential policies and coverages, validate and advise where clarification is needed
• Communicate with clients, colleagues, third parties and insurers on status updates, information requests and queries
• Support clients with procedural guidance and help them get information from colleagues and insurers
• Follow up with insurers on escalations and manage claims escalations from start to finish
• Generate claims reports from the internal system, validate and distribute them
• Handle outstanding run-off claims and keep records up to date
• Manage allocated claims portfolios and prioritise work to meet deadlines and service standards
• Stay compliant with regulatory requirements and Marsh's professional standards

Required profile

• Insurance and claims handling knowledge
• Experience in insurance, preferably commercial claims, is an advantage
• Previous insurance studies are advantageous
• Comfortable working with technology solutions
• Ability to work under pressure and to solve problems

Required skills

• Clear oral and written communication in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Word and Excel
• Strong organisation, time management and numerical skills
