Edge Bander & Pothole Operator (External Applications Only)

About the role

The Edge Bander & Pothole Operator ensures that all customer orders are edged, cut and drilled to specification within required timelines. The role involves operating specialised machinery, maintaining safety standards and providing excellent customer service on site.

Key responsibilities

• Operate edge‑banding, cutting and drilling machines according to job orders and safety guidelines.
• Perform daily cleaning, calibration and preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Provide prompt, accurate assistance to customers, answer product queries and handle complaints.
• Maintain a tidy, obstacle‑free work area and ensure stock is merchandised safely.
• Observe OHSA safety requirements, wear appropriate gear and report any hazards.
• Monitor for suspicious behaviour, verify purchase documentation before processing cuts or edges.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
• At least 2 years carpentry experience (advantageous).
• Minimum 1 year experience with cutting, edging or drilling machinery (advantageous).
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays under pressure.
