Distributor Performance & Development Manager

About the role

Kukhanya Energy Services (KES) delivers Pay‑Go solar solutions to households and small businesses through an independent distributor network. The Distributor Performance & Development Manager ensures that distributors meet contractual obligations, achieve key performance indicators, and grow into profitable enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Own the performance of the distributor network, maintaining contracts, KPIs, scorecards and conducting monthly business reviews.
• Audit field operations – stock, cash, agent practices and customer onboarding – and drive corrective actions.
• Protect portfolio quality by aligning incentives, selling discipline and collections with revenue goals.
• Coach distributor owners on financial controls, inventory management, people structures and route‑to‑market execution.
• Design and run a distributor development programme including training, playbooks and best‑practice sharing.
• Report network health to the executive team and influence decisions on distributor appointments, territories, investments and exits.

Required profile

• 8+ years managing distributors, dealers, channel or franchise partners with senior‑level ownership of third‑party performance.
• Proven ability to both enforce standards (audits, scorecards, contract remedies) and develop partner businesses (coaching, turnarounds).
• Background in Pay‑Go solar, off‑grid energy, micro‑finance, telecom/mobile‑money distribution, FMCG or franchising.
• Strong commercial and financial literacy, able to analyse small‑business financials.
• Relevant degree; postgraduate business qualification is a plus.
• High integrity, resilience and willingness to spend 50‑60% of time in the field.
• Valid driver’s licence.
