Creditors Manager

About the role

The Creditors Manager will lead the accounts payable function, ensuring that suppliers and subcontractors are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with internal controls. This senior finance position reports to senior management and plays a pivotal role in cash‑flow management and audit readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire creditors (accounts payable) process, from invoice receipt to payment.
• Review, approve and authorize creditor reconciliations and ensure adherence to payment terms.
• Maintain strong internal controls, manage the procure‑to‑pay cycle and creditor conversion processes.
• Prepare month‑end reporting, cash‑flow forecasts and support audit activities.
• Resolve aged payables, address creditor queries and manage the creditors database, including new credit applications.
• Review contract changes and supplier agreements for management approval.
• Build and sustain strong supplier relationships.
• Lead, coach, mentor and develop the creditors team.
• Drive compliance with company policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
• Support finance projects and other business initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with a relevant Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Creditors Supervisor, Accounts Payable Supervisor or similar role.
• Proven experience managing a creditors book exceeding R56 million.
• Demonstrated ability to lead medium to large teams.
• Exposure to Freightware Costing, MX or similar systems is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Pastel Evolution accounting software.
• Familiarity with Freightware Costing and MX systems (preferred).
