Content Development Manager – Learning & Development

About the role

The Content Development Manager leads the full lifecycle of learning products, from research and instructional design to delivery and continuous improvement. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures programmes are high‑quality, commercially viable, and compliant with South African regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Translate client needs, market trends and academic strategy into scalable learning products and curriculum frameworks.
• Manage the learning product portfolio, prioritising initiatives based on commercial value, client demand and strategic objectives.
• Own programme lifecycle, including version control, change management, annual review and regulatory updates.
• Establish academic review and validation processes with subject‑matter experts.
• Ensure instructional quality, factual accuracy, accessibility, brand consistency and adherence to adult learning principles.
• Maintain compliance with QCTO, SETA and professional body requirements, and keep accreditation documentation up to date.
• Prepare implementation packs covering qualification structure, delivery schedule, assessment, LMS configuration and operational SOPs.
• Conduct handover and training sessions with operations, project managers and facilitators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in learning and development, instructional design or curriculum development.
• Strong understanding of South African education and training regulations (QCTO, SETA).
• Demonstrated ability to manage product portfolios and drive commercial outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
