About the role

Ba-Phalaborwa Golf Club is looking for an experienced and passionate Club Professional to manage the golf retail outlet and oversee golf and golf-related activities at the club. The successful candidate plays a key role in delivering an exceptional experience to members and guests, driving golf participation and membership initiatives, managing the Pro Shop, coordinating golf events and tournaments and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the golf department.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations and presentation of the Pro Shop, source and order merchandise and supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Prepare and manage budgets for retail and golf operations, and manage charges, fees, player rounds and golf-related statistics.
• Oversee and administer the club's handicap system and start-of-play procedures.
• Plan, promote and coordinate golf activities, tournaments, clinics and related events.
• Drive membership and golf participation through sales and marketing initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with golf rules, club policies and applicable regulations.
• Work with the General Manager, Golf Committee and Grounds Superintendent on golf course and operational matters.
• Coordinate and supervise marshals and other golf-related personnel.
• Recruit, train, schedule and manage Pro Shop, golf operations and on-course staff, and monitor their performance, working hours and service delivery.
• Provide golf lessons and clinics, including junior development programmes.
• Build strong relationships with members and guests, represent the club at approved professional and industry events and contribute to improving operations, facilities and service standards.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12.
• PGA qualification.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a golf club environment, preferably in golf retail or golf operations.
• Good understanding of golf club operating systems; Clubmaster experience is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong planning, organising, leadership and management abilities, and good command of English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of golf rules and operations.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Advantageous: 3 years' experience in golf retail or as an Assistant Club Professional, experience managing a Pro Shop, organising tournaments and events, and managing a golf operations team.
