General Manager - Golf Club

About the role

Ba-Phalaborwa Golf Club is looking for an experienced, commercially driven General Manager to lead the club's strategic, financial, commercial and operational management. This is a senior leadership role combining hospitality excellence, business acumen, people leadership and a passion for golf, positioning the club as a leading destination in Limpopo and the greater Bushveld region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the golf club and its hospitality, leisure and events functions.
• Develop strategies for revenue, profitability, membership growth and business development.
• Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets, monitor financial performance and control costs.
• Monitor financial and operational KPIs and report regularly to Head Office.
• Ensure exceptional service for members, visitors, corporate clients, tourists and guests.
• Oversee food and beverage operations, stock control, cash handling and cost management.
• Drive weddings, corporate functions, themed events and other revenue-generating activities.
• Identify new commercial opportunities, promotions and initiatives to attract and retain members and guests.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene and operational standards, and maintain SOPs.
• Monitor customer feedback and handle queries and complaints promptly.

Required profile

• Diploma in Food & Beverage Management or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification; an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management (NQF Level 7) is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior hospitality management role, preferably in a multi-venue property with leisure and dining.
• Proven experience in financial management, budgeting and operational leadership, and in managing and developing teams.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations and good understanding of the game of golf.
• Advantageous: 4+ years as a Food & Beverage Manager or General Manager, experience with ClubMaster or similar POS systems, stock control software and Microsoft Office, events and wedding experience, and a valid Code 08 driver's licence.
