Business Development Executive – Clearing & Forwarding

About the role

Aviocean Natal is expanding its sales team in the Durban area and is looking for a results‑driven Business Development Executive specialized in clearing and forwarding. You will be responsible for generating new business, nurturing client relationships, and representing Aviocean as a trusted logistics partner.

Key responsibilities

• Grow and maintain a strong client portfolio.
• Identify new opportunities and expand market presence.
• Collaborate closely with operations to ensure service excellence.
• Represent Aviocean as a trusted logistics partner in the market.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing new business in the clearing and forwarding industry.
• Strong knowledge of airfreight import and export operations.
• Ability to identify, target and secure new clients in key trade sectors.
• Skilled in rate negotiations, tender submissions and closing deals.
• Experience preparing proposals and delivering client presentations.
• Established network within the logistics and supply chain industry (advantageous).
• Understanding of customs processes, Incoterms and global trade requirements.
• Strong CRM discipline and pipeline management.
• Tertiary education in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
• Proactive, results‑focused mindset with strong accountability.
• Successful ITC and criminal record checks will be required.

• Airfreight import/export operations.
• Customs processes and Incoterms knowledge.
