Bookkeeper – Trial Balance (Norwood, Gauteng)

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Bookkeeper to manage trial balance activities for our Norwood office in Gauteng. The role involves accurate data capture, payroll processing, and comprehensive accounting support to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Capture all invoices and payroll data into the company‑approved accounting and payroll systems.
• Maintain an organized filing system and archive records in line with POPI/PAIA and other legal requirements.
• Process monthly payroll, including calculations, statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, garnishee orders, union deductions) and liaison with relevant authorities.
• Prepare and submit required reports (WRA, IOD) within statutory timelines.
• Reconcile bank statements, EFTs, speed‑point transactions and debtor deposits.
• Execute month‑end creditor reconciliations, schedule payments and ensure adherence to credit limits and approval processes.
• Support HR‑related record keeping for employee files, leave, and statutory documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll administration and month‑end accounting.
• Strong understanding of South African tax and labour legislation (SARS, POPI/PAIA).
• Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with bargaining councils, legal bodies and statutory agencies.
