Band 2 Outpatient Clinic Receptionist (Relief) – NHS Grampian

About the role

The NHS Grampian Outpatient Administration team is seeking a motivated Band 2 Receptionist to provide front‑line administrative support across several Aberdeen hospitals. This part‑time position works Monday to Friday, 13:00‑17:00 (20 hours per week), and may involve rotating between sites as a relief receptionist.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephone enquiries from patients and manage inbound calls professionally.
• Process GP referrals and prepare clinic lists and paperwork for upcoming appointments.
• Assist clinic coordinators with booking appointments from outpatient waiting lists.
• Perform general administrative duties to keep the outpatient department running smoothly.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, customer‑focused individual with a polite telephone manner.
• Ability to work well under pressure, especially during staff shortages.
• Flexible and adaptable, willing to cover multiple sites as needed.
• Confident, caring and empathetic when dealing with service users and colleagues.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong IT aptitude for handling clinic booking and administrative systems.
