Architect – Residential, Healthcare & Commercial Projects

About the role

Zietsman Architects is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Architect to join its Durban office. You will be responsible for turning client ideas into detailed, buildable designs across residential, healthcare and commercial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise, design and detail architectural projects from brief to construction documents.
• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D visualisations, including renders and videos.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and local authorities to ensure compliance with building regulations.
• Manage project documentation, attend site meetings and monitor construction progress.
• Resolve design‑related issues on‑site and support timely, budget‑conscious delivery.
• Engage with clients to understand needs, present proposals and maintain strong relationships.

Required profile

• Recognised architectural degree with registration or eligibility for registration in South Africa.
• Strong foundation in architectural design and technical documentation.
• Proven project‑management experience, including stakeholder coordination, time and cost control.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African building codes, especially for Durban and KwaZulu‑Natal.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
