Junior Accountant

About the role

The Junior Accountant will join Southern Fruit Growers’ finance team in Somerset West, supporting day‑to‑day financial operations. The role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work accurately under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Process and post weekly receipts against debtors.
• Handle sales invoices for citrus and grapes, including shipper invoices.
• Capture and update citrus pricing according to purchase orders.
• Prepare and distribute reports on outstanding prices.
• Capture and process all ZAR creditor transactions.
• Prepare cost‑per‑carton reports using iRoot.
• Process GoReefers cost entries via EDI.
• Prepare reconciled creditor lists aligned with statements and iRoot.
• Assist with monthly general ledger tasks.
• Manage packaging material orders and related Xero bookkeeping.
• Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as required.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• 2–3 years of experience in an accounting or financial role.
• SAICA or SAIPA articles in progress or completed (highly advantageous).
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English.
• Own reliable transport.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and overall MS Office proficiency.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.
• Familiarity with EDI processing.
