Human Resources Business Partner

About the role

The Human Resources Business Partner works closely with leaders across retail stores and contact centre operations to drive business performance through strategic people partnership, operational excellence, and people‑centric leadership. This role ensures effective people practices in talent, culture, engagement, employee relations, leadership capability, and organisational effectiveness within a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to align people initiatives with operational and commercial objectives.
• Provide insight and challenge on organisational effectiveness, culture, workforce capability, and leadership.
• Use people data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Deliver operational employee‑relations guidance, manage disciplinary processes, grievances, investigations, and ensure compliance with South African labour legislation.
• Drive talent management, succession planning, performance management, and capability development.
• Coach leaders on performance improvement, talent identification, and team effectiveness.
• Support workforce planning, organisational development, and change initiatives.
• Facilitate employee‑engagement programmes, workshops, and culture‑building activities.
• Collaborate with Centres of Excellence to deliver integrated people solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or related field (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 3–5 years experience in a similar HR Business Partner role supporting retail, contact‑centre, FMCG or high‑volume customer environments.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Understanding of organisational development, workforce planning, and talent management principles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
