Ward Clerk – Adult ICU

About the role

We are seeking a Ward Clerk for the Adult ICU at Life Brenthurst Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will provide essential administrative support to ensure the nursing team operates efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate inter‑departmental communication and liaise with various hospital units.
• Manage non‑nursing administrative tasks, including call handling, diary and meeting coordination, and minute taking.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation to mitigate medico‑legal risks.
• Support safety standards by staying current with emergency plans and protocols.
• Deliver courteous client service and uphold professional secrecy and quality principles.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
• At least one year of recent experience as a ward clerk in a private hospital.
• Strong listening, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the SAP hospital information system (advantageous).
• General computer literacy, including standard office software.
