Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary - Orthopaedic/Surgical Ward

About the role

A vacancy exists for an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary based in Ward 9 (Ortho/Surgical) at Life Bay View Private Hospital, reporting to Unit Manager B Mbuli. The successful candidate ensures delivery of high-quality care in line with the hospital's strategic objectives and applicable health and nursing legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Quality management: attend and take part in quality programmes, ensure induction training is delivered, complete monthly quality evaluator cards and report to the shift leader or unit manager, and take part in ward reviews to meet QMS audit standards
• Infection control and safety: comply with infection control standards, PPE requirements and safety measures
• Operational efficiency: manage stock accurately, report patient movements on discharge or transfer correctly, maintain equipment properly, minimise unexplained absenteeism and work flexible hours to support other departments
• Patient care: carry out assigned tasks, follow the nursing care plan for hygiene, comfort and safety, use correct techniques and PPE for wound and fracture care, record fluid intake and help prepare surgical and diagnostic procedures
• Relationships: build healthy relationships with internal and external customers and support new staff through the orientation programme

Required profile

• Registered as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary with SANC, with current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry is an advantage
• Computer proficiency, driver's licence and ability to travel
