Volunteer Doctor in Hoedspruit

About the role

The Tshemba Foundation is seeking qualified South African doctors to volunteer in rural Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. You will work in public hospitals and surrounding clinics, providing essential medical care and sharing expertise with local staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct or indirect patient care across multiple hospital departments and clinics.
• Provide postgraduate support and training to medical staff.
• Teach and develop clinical skills for local healthcare professionals.
• Assist with administrative, management, and quality‑improvement projects.
• Develop health interventions and clinical protocols in collaboration with local teams.

Required profile

• Current medical license in good standing.
• Registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Registered medical professional; priority given to GPs/family physicians (diabetes expertise), neurologists, dermatologists, hospitalists, ophthalmologists, paediatricians, general surgeons, optometrists, speech therapists, and dieticians.
