Vice President, Specialist Sales – SME (Africa)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Vice President to lead its Specialist Sales team for Small and Medium Enterprises across Africa. The senior leader will shape sales strategy, drive revenue growth and champion innovative payment solutions for fintechs and large issuing banks serving SME customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive regional sales strategy aligned with Mastercard’s Africa objectives.
• Lead, coach and manage a high‑performing team of four or more sales professionals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to identify market opportunities and accelerate revenue.
• Build and maintain executive‑level relationships with key fintechs, issuing banks and strategic partners.
• Represent Mastercard at industry events and articulate payment trends and innovations.
• Understand the specific needs of fintechs and large banks serving SME clients and create differentiated value propositions.
• Oversee strategic account planning and ensure alignment with clients’ SME business priorities.
• Drive adoption of Mastercard’s payment solutions for SME customers across the continent.
• Develop compelling business cases that demonstrate the ROI of Mastercard solutions.

Required profile

• Proven senior sales leadership experience in the payments or financial services sector.
• Track record of managing and scaling high‑performing sales teams.
• Deep knowledge of the African SME market and its financing challenges.
• Strong ability to build and sustain executive‑level relationships.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience speaking at industry forums.
• Experience working with fintech companies and large issuing banks.
