Utility Artisan – Maintenance Specialist

About the role

The Utilities Artisan will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the plant’s utility systems, ensuring reliable operation of boilers, compressors, chillers, pumps, HVAC and water infrastructure. This full‑time position supports continuous production at Coca‑Cola Beverages South Africa’s Phoenix facility.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on all utility equipment.
• Diagnose faults, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Carry out equipment inspections, condition monitoring and support energy‑ and water‑efficiency initiatives.
• Complete job cards and update the CMMS (SAP PM) with accurate work records.
• Assist the Utilities Team Leader in planning and executing plant shutdowns and project tasks.
• Provide after‑hours standby support and coordinate repairs with operators and production teams.
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act, Pressure Equipment Regulations and internal safety procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum N4‑N6 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering.
• Trade Test Certificate (Fitter, Millwright, Electrician or Refrigeration Mechanic) – preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience as a qualified artisan in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of boiler and pressure‑equipment standards is advantageous.
