Utilities Operator – Boiler

About the role

The Utilities Operator – Boiler is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of steam boilers supporting production at Coca‑Cola Beverages South Africa. You will ensure optimal pressure, temperature, and water chemistry while complying with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor steam boilers, performing pre‑start, start‑up, normal operation and shutdown procedures.
• Adjust fuel, air and water feeds to maintain efficient combustion and steam output.
• Conduct routine boiler inspections, housekeeping and safety device checks.
• Log and report operational parameters such as pressure, water level and fuel consumption.
• Maintain compliance with the OHS Act, Pressure Equipment Regulations and internal safety protocols.
• Perform first‑line maintenance, identify faults and report abnormalities to the Utilities Team Leader.
• Assist artisans during planned maintenance and ensure tools and spare parts are available.
• Monitor fuel and water usage, coordinate water treatment parameters with service providers.
• Support other utility areas (compressors, refrigeration) under supervision.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
• Valid Boiler Operator Certificate (minimum Second Class) from an accredited institution.
• Relevant trade certifications where applicable.
