Unit Manager - Critical Care Units

About the role

The Unit Manager is responsible for the Critical Care Units of a hospital group in Kathu, Northern Cape. The role monitors and ensures that quality nursing care and service delivery are implemented and practised within a multi-disciplinary team, and is accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development within the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure units provide safe, cost-effective quality patient care in line with the hospital group's clinical governance strategy and evidence-based practice
• Evaluate the patient journey through patient experience and stakeholder feedback
• Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care
• Promote the health and wellbeing of patients and employees
• Ensure infection prevention and international standard precautions are followed
• Implement group quality initiatives
• Liaise with public liability on incidents posing potential risk to the business

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification (Critical Care Nursing, Trauma Nursing or a relevant management qualification)
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Compliance with the SANC code for registered nurses and applicable healthcare legislation
• Compulsory BLS certification
