Registered Nurse - General Ward

About the role

A Registered Nurse is needed on the general ward of a hospital in Kathu, Northern Cape. The nurse provides cost-effective, safe and quality patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and delivers direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessing, planning, implementing and supervising care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in line with the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Take part in shift handovers
• Communicate clearly with patients about their care
• Promote patient health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Control and manage stock, ensuring it is charged and credited correctly
• Maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification
• Relevant qualification and experience in a specialist area
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
• Capacity to uphold health practice standards and comply with health legislation
