Unit Manager – Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

About the role

The client seeks an experienced Unit Manager to lead a specialised Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). The role combines clinical leadership with operational oversight to ensure safe, high‑quality care for critically ill cardiac patients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the CICU, including staffing, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to the nursing team, monitoring patient outcomes and quality indicators.
• Drive patient safety and quality‑improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical governance standards.
• Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering professional growth.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary cardiac care team to coordinate patient care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration.
• Critical Care qualification (essential).
• Experience in a Cardiac ICU or CICU (advantageous).
• Previous unit management or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of clinical governance.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
