Transactor Manager - Trade Finance

About the role

Standard Bank Group is hiring a Transactor Manager in Johannesburg to manage the objectives of a single trade finance portfolio of complex or moderately complex clients. The role covers deal origination, structuring and execution, portfolio strategy and risk oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Manage objectives for a single trade finance portfolio through individual deal origination, structuring and execution.
• Formulate and implement a client portfolio strategy to grow revenues on existing and new clients.
• Work with Trade, Client Coverage and TxB leadership to define and drive the implementation of trade finance strategic objectives, optimising client and shareholder returns and growing revenue and market share.
• Partner with Credit, BS&R, Coverage and other CIB units to monitor close-watchlist and NPL clients so credit risk stays within appetite, acting as first line of defence in risk management.
• Handle due diligence and structuring to mitigate transactional risks, and stay informed on macroeconomic and sector trends to strengthen thought leadership.
• Use knowledge of the commodities ecosystem to develop short-term self-liquidating solutions.
• Review and approve corporate trade finance solutions, documentation and due diligence reports so that base case models and term sheets fit client needs and CIB commercial, risk and regulatory frameworks.
• Act as a TxB advisor and thought leader across clients, industries and markets, and lead the development of new business areas and income streams.
• Analyse the client portfolio to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

Required profile

• Relevant degree, postgraduate qualification and/or master's degree or MBA in Commerce.
