Trade Tested Millwright – Packaging Industry

About the role

Our client in the packaging sector is looking for a qualified Trade Tested Millwright to join the maintenance team at their Elandsfontein plant near Johannesburg. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising production machinery and plant equipment to ensure reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including motors, drives, sensors, control circuits and electrical equipment.
• Maintain mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, shafts, pumps and conveyors.
• Service pneumatic and hydraulic systems and conduct fault‑finding on related components.
• Install, assemble, align, commission and adjust machinery, supporting change‑overs as required.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Conduct routine inspections, root‑cause analysis of recurring failures and implement reliability improvements.
• Complete job cards, maintenance records and breakdown reports, and participate in planned shutdowns.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Millwright Trade Test Certificate (non‑negotiable).
• Minimum 3–5 years post‑trade experience as a qualified Millwright.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Willingness to work overtime, standby or shift work when required.
