Trade Support Specialist, Vanilla

About the role

Standard Bank Group is hiring a Trade Support Specialist for its Middle Office, supporting the Africa Trading Desk with expanded responsibility for Money Markets and Interest Rate Derivatives (IRD). The role supports Global Markets clients and the Sales and Trading business by managing and facilitating the operational trade lifecycle so that trades can be settled, comply with regulatory standards, mitigate operational risk and deliver a positive client experience. Coverage of South African public holidays is required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the operational trade lifecycle, including allocating, validating and enriching trades
• Identify and resolve exceptions and queries
• Implement continuous improvement measures
• Ensure trades settle effectively, meet regulatory standards and mitigate operational risk
• Provide operational support to the Africa Trading Desk, including coverage on South African public holidays when required

Required profile

• First degree in Business, Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Mathematical Sciences or similar
• 3-5 years of experience in trade support and operations
• Advanced experience in the trade lifecycle of a Global Markets environment, covering products such as interest rate swaps, total return swaps, structured notes, bonds, options, loans and deposits, NDFs, FX spots, forwards and swaps
• Knowledge of pricing and risk management principles and their impact on risk, P&L and the value chain
• Seasoned understanding of the end-to-end trading environment, with both system and manual processes
• Ability to self-manage and coordinate across teams, stakeholders, business, operations, technology and finance

Required skills

• Proficiency with desk-specific systems, software and processes, including Microsoft applications and other banking industry systems
• Trade lifecycle, deal setup and administration, derivatives markets, exception handling and query resolution
• Process analysis, redesign and business process improvement
