Job description

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑driven Technical Support Engineer with a passion for aviation to coordinate heavy maintenance, forecast parts and defect trends, and ensure operational readiness across multiple aircraft types in Durban.

Key responsibilities

  • Research and advise on parts, tooling and material requirements for heavy maintenance projects such as 500‑hour inspections and G‑checks.
  • Prepare, submit and follow up Technical Enquiries (TEs) to OEMs and manage Power‑by‑Hour (PBH) and Support‑by‑Hour (SBH) claims.
  • Develop detailed work scopes, project plans and schedules for maintenance, upgrades and configuration changes.
  • Forecast annual parts and material needs, source alternatives and coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability.
  • Produce monthly parts and defect trend reports to support pre‑planning and remediation strategies.
  • Identify, source and manage specialised tooling, including researching or manufacturing alternatives when required.
  • Oversee production planning for maintenance cycles, providing daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Support new aircraft deployments by planning logistics, manpower and equipment.
  • Manage technical subscriptions, Nav data updates and CVFDR downloads ensuring compliance during maintenance checks.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Service Bulletins and other regulatory documents.

Required profile

  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for aviation maintenance.
  • Experience coordinating heavy aircraft maintenance and forecasting parts requirements.
  • Ability to produce clear reports and communicate technical information to OEMs and internal teams.
  • Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
