Technical Sales Coordinator

About the role

The Technical Sales Coordinator supports the sales/design office in Johannesburg, handling customer enquiries, order processing and after-sales service. The role ensures that customer orders, technical drawings and company documentation are accurate, complete and technically sound, which is vital for production efficiency and the company's reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the internal sales team in answering customer enquiries and give accurate technical advice based on approved specifications.
• Review quotations, pricing, technical drawings and lead times before fabrication, and coordinate with the factory on design, specification and production queries.
• Work with stores and procurement to secure material availability and delivery dates.
• Keep the internal drawing system controlled, approved and revision-controlled, and oversee its use internally and for sales support.
• Monitor customer orders from quotation through fabrication to delivery, and enforce quality management and technical change-control requirements.
• Train internal sales staff, stand in for other sales employees and the Factory Manager, and assist other departments as arranged.
• Report market, customer and competitor feedback to management and maintain strong customer relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical sales and design office work; a B.Eng or B-Tech in engineering or a National Diploma is required.
• English literacy (reading and writing).
• Good physical health, a valid driver's licence and own transport.
• Beneficial: manufacturing or electrical products experience, knowledge of standards such as UL, IEC and ISO, and familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to compile and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and communication skills.
