Superintendent – Engineering (Conveyor Belts)

About the role

The Superintendent – Engineering will lead the planning, organisation and optimisation of all conveyor belt systems and bulk material handling infrastructure at the South Deep Gold Mine. This senior position ensures safe operation, equipment reliability and asset integrity while aligning maintenance delivery with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and optimise conveyor belt and bulk handling equipment maintenance.
• Lead safety, health, environmental and risk management campaigns on site.
• Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory standards.
• Oversee shutdown management, reliability improvement initiatives and asset lifecycle management.
• Manage contractors, budgets and cost control for maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent with a relevant Trade Certificate.
• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering (advantageous).
• Minimum 8 years engineering maintenance experience in mining or heavy industry, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Medical fitness for mine environment and successful heat‑tolerance screening.
