Store Manager - Hair and Beauty Retail

About the role

A leading hair and beauty retail company is looking for an experienced Store Manager with strong retail sales, customer service, staff management, stock control and store operations experience. The post is based at Pavillion, Westville, Durban, and the manager drives sales and profitability while keeping customer service and store standards high.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day store management, including sales, staff, stock and resources, and develop strategies to grow traffic, the customer base and profitability.
• Meet sales targets through training, motivation, mentoring and feedback; conduct performance appraisals and support staff development.
• Maintain excellent customer service, handle complaints and grievances, and follow up on queries, refunds and orders.
• Keep the store clean, well-presented and visually merchandised, with displays, wigs and pricing correct.
• Conduct daily stock counts, investigate variances and place weekly stock orders; submit weekly stock takes.
• Monitor service bookings, collections and turnaround times, and check completed stylist work.
• Complete store administration, month-end processes, payroll movements and leave administration, and prepare work schedules.
• Ensure POS captures all sales, reconcile transactions, follow security procedures and keep the store stocked with the right equipment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Store Manager or supervisor in retail.
• Experience managing and motivating staff and handling customer complaints professionally.
• Experience with stock management and stock takes, and with POS processes and transaction reconciliation.
• Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills, able to work independently and in a team.
