Specialty Registrar LAT (ST4) in Anaesthetics – 12‑month post

About the role

This is a 12‑month Specialty Registrar LAT (ST4) post within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme. The appointment runs from 5 August 2026 to 3 August 2027 and may be based at either Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, depending on training needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anaesthetic care for a wide range of surgical specialties.
• Participate in obstetric anaesthesia services and emergency anaesthetic procedures.
• Contribute to teaching medical students and junior trainees.
• Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and audit projects.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC, in place before start date.
• Minimum 24 months of UK anaesthesia experience, including completion of the Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) and IAC in Obstetric Anaesthesia.
• Stage 1 level candidates with more than 18 months experience may be considered for CT3 level.
• Commitment to achieving stage 1 equivalence where required.
