Software Engineer – Application Security

About the role

This position is for a Software Engineer who will specialise in Application Security Engineering. You will build platforms, tooling and automation that protect millions of payment transactions used daily by South Africans.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop secure‑by‑default Java libraries for authentication, encryption and logging.
• Create tooling that detects security risks early in the development lifecycle.
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and automate vulnerability remediation.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Platform Engineers, DevOps and Security teams to embed security into everyday development processes.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or a related role.
• Strong backend development experience with Java.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code.
• Proven ability to build or modify CI/CD pipelines and engineering tooling.
