Job description
About the role
A leading national fitness and wellness organisation is looking for a Senior Social Wellness & Club Experience Manager for its Cape Town team in an in-office role. The role rethinks what a club means to its members, building communities and a distinctive social wellness experience across a national network of clubs. It is a senior strategic leadership position, not a traditional events role.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the social wellness and community strategy, defining the member experience, standards and long-term direction.
- Develop social programmes, community experiences, hospitality initiatives and cultural collaborations that drive participation and loyalty.
- Use member insights, behavioural research and market trends to identify opportunities and develop concepts.
- Build partnerships with brands, creators and communities that add commercial value.
- Create scalable frameworks, standards and toolkits for consistent delivery across clubs while reflecting local communities.
- Turn concepts into implementation plans, coordinate launches and operational readiness, and visit clubs to assess performance and scale successful initiatives.
- Influence senior stakeholders, regional teams and club representatives, and link in-club experiences with digital engagement channels.
- Set performance measures for participation, engagement and retention, and manage budgets, agencies, suppliers and partners.
- Report to senior leadership with strategic recommendations and proactive risk management.
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Brand, Customer Experience, Hospitality, Events, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent senior-level experience.
- At least 8 years' experience in hospitality, lifestyle, wellness, member experience, community development, retail, brand experience, events or a comparable premium consumer environment.
- Proven track record of building and sustaining engaged communities and scaling experiences from concept to scale.
- Experience establishing new concepts, operating models, standards or formats from the ground up.
- Willingness to travel regularly to clubs and work outside standard office hours when required.
Required skills
- Commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, supplier relationships, business cases and ROI.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams and manage complex programmes across multiple locations.
- Data analysis, digital fluency and strong communication, presentation and reporting skills.
- Emotional intelligence, organisational skills, attention to detail and composure under pressure.
