Site Manager – Retail Store (KZN)

About the role

The Site Manager will lead the daily operations of a retail store in KwaZulu‑Natal, ensuring efficient service, profitability and compliance with health and safety standards. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight and customer focus to drive the store’s success.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all store activities, from opening to closing, to guarantee smooth and profitable operations.
• Lead, train, schedule and motivate a team to achieve high performance and excellent customer service.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, FIFO rotation and minimise waste through regular counts and inventory reconciliation.
• Control costs, including labour, food and operational expenses, and ensure accurate cash handling and banking procedures.
• Maintain store cleanliness, equipment upkeep and brand presentation standards.
• Recruit, onboard and develop staff in line with company values, handling performance, discipline and attendance.
• Analyse sales reports and operational data to inform decisions and drive upselling, promotions and local marketing initiatives.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations and keep the site audit‑ready.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and head office as required.

Required profile

• Matriculation (or equivalent) with a relevant qualification.
• Proven experience in a site or store management role, preferably within food retail or hospitality.
• Strong leadership and people‑development capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, solve problems and make data‑driven decisions.
