SHE Officer – Safety, Health & Environment

About the role

The client, a leading food‑processing company, is seeking a dedicated SHE Officer to manage Safety, Health and Environment functions across the manufacturing site. You will maintain the SHE Management System, drive compliance with legislation and support continuous improvement in occupational safety and environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the SHE Management System, conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA), and develop safe work procedures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses, implement corrective actions and deliver toolbox talks and safety training.
• Monitor waste, effluent, water and energy usage, ensure compliance with municipal and environmental permits, and manage hazardous waste disposal.
• Support food‑safety hygiene practices, oversee chemical handling, pest‑control services and GMP inspections.
• Maintain the SHE legal register, conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits such as BRCGS and FSSC 22000.
• Develop and test emergency response plans, coordinate fire drills, and manage fire equipment and spill kits.

Required profile

• National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, Environmental Health or a related field.
• 3–5 years of SHE/OHS experience in food manufacturing, meat processing or other high‑risk industrial environments.
