Service Technician (Industrial Automation)

About the role

SA Power Services is seeking a Service Technician to join its Johannesburg branch, providing on‑site technical support for industrial automation and electrical equipment across Gauteng. The role is ideal for an experienced electrician or millwright who can diagnose faults, perform installations and upgrades, and assist customers both on‑site and remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver on‑site technical service and support for SA Power products, including fault‑finding, upgrades and installations.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and basic mechanical faults, and coordinate mechanical repairs through the workshop.
• Manage technical projects handed over to the Service Team and provide telephone support to customers.
• Complete job cards, timesheets and logbooks accurately and promptly.
• Prepare service quotations and support sales activities within the region.
• Build and maintain customer relationships while promoting SA Power’s products, services and training.
• Travel throughout Gauteng to provide customer support and attend site visits.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Qualified electrician or millwright with a recognised Trade Test Certificate.
• Proven experience servicing and fault‑finding industrial electrical or automation equipment.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding skills, including hard‑wired control circuits.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to work flexible hours, overtime and occasional weekends.
