Service Technician – Combustion Systems

About the role

Our client, a well‑established industrial company, is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join its field services team in Cape Town. The role focuses on the installation, maintenance, commissioning and repair of combustion systems such as burners and boilers, ensuring safe and efficient operation in line with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Commission, install and respond to breakdowns of burners and boiler systems.
• Conduct site surveys, prepare reports and liaise with clients.
• Perform remote monitoring, software updates and troubleshooting.
• Support junior technicians on technical tasks.
• Contribute to departmental sales targets.
• Travel locally and internationally as required.

Required profile

• BTech or N. Dip in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–4 years of installation experience with burners and boilers (green‑energy exposure advantageous).
• 4–8 years in an industrial or engineering environment (advantageous).
• Ability to issue COC certificates.
• Basic electrical knowledge (ELC1 and ELC2).
• SANS 329 / SANS 347 accreditation (advantageous).
• Computer literate – proficient with MS Office Suite and MS Teams (Accpac/Xero advantageous).

Required skills

• Mechanical engineering qualification.
• Installation and commissioning of burners and boilers.
• Issuing COC certificates.
• Basic electrical knowledge (ELC1, ELC2).
• SANS 329 / SANS 347 standards.
• MS Office and MS Teams proficiency.
