Senior Tool Designer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tool Designer to create jigs, fixtures and press tools for the automotive sector. The role involves designing specifications using CATIA, conducting design reviews, and maintaining design standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design jigs, fixtures and press tools using CATIA to meet automotive specifications.
• Conduct design reviews for both internal and outsourced designs.
• Create and update tool, jig and fixture design standards.
• Participate in APQP processes and issue status reports on designs.
• Ensure drawing revisions are controlled and up‑to‑date.
• Develop tooling standards and optimise material usage.
• Liaise with estimators on initial die layout concepts.
• Delegate and oversee designs performed by other in‑house designers.

• Commitment, reliability and willingness to put extra time into work when required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CATIA design software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Project and PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining capabilities.
• Experience with NC machining and die construction practices.
• Knowledge of automotive quality standards (Q1, VDA6, IATF 16949).
• Familiarity with patterns and toolmaking processes.
