Senior Tax Compliance Officer

About the role

We are expanding our tax compliance team and need a dynamic Senior Tax Compliance Officer to manage the full tax compliance function for individual and trust clients. You will work closely with clients and third parties to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and collate tax information from clients and third parties.
• Prepare ITR12, IT12, TIRP6, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd tax returns.
• Prepare tax computations and reconcile assessments.
• Handle SARS objections and appeals (NOO, NOA, ADR1) and respond to related queries.
• Apply for tax clearance certificates (good standing, tender, foreign investment).
• Maintain quality control by completing check‑lists for return reviews.
• Achieve yearly KPIs for returns submitted and fees billed.
• Register clients for Income Tax with SARS (IT77).
• Manage estate tax compliance, including pre‑ and post‑date of death returns, CGT calculations, and obtaining compliance letters.
• Monitor personal productivity and meet agreed productive hours.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12; tax or related qualification advantageous.
• At least 5 years of tax compliance experience; estate tax experience beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Ability to analyse information, write reports and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills; manage a portfolio of ~300 clients.
• Solution‑oriented, detail‑focused and up‑to‑date with tax legislation.
• Accounting knowledge and GreatSoft experience advantageous.
