Senior Mechanical Engineer – Offshore & Subsea

About the role

Lead engineering operations, project execution and product development for offshore drilling risers, well‑control equipment and proprietary engineering systems. The position is based in Cape Town and involves hands‑on involvement with capital drilling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design, manufacturing, maintenance and repair projects from inception to delivery.
• Perform strength calculations, FEA and simulations as required.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Generate complete manufacturing data packs – BOMs, quality control plans, work instructions and manuals.
• Oversee procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling and data‑book generation.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, review deliverables and initiate corrective actions.
• Coordinate with vendors during fabrication, monitor manufacturing quality and close‑out activities.
• Participate in inspection and maintenance processes to deepen operational understanding.

Required profile

• 6‑8 years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a mid‑level role within heavy engineering, offshore, oil & gas or subsea.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration (PrEng) preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
