Senior Manager (Engineering & Data Services)

About the role

eThekwini is recruiting a Senior Manager for its Engineering and Data Services branch in Durban. The post covers the management of the branch's staff, the administration of survey and GIS projects, and the financial and administrative oversight of the technical support department.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the staff of the branch.
• Oversee the control of mapping-grade global positioning systems.
• Ensure planning, estimating and allocation work is carried out.
• Manage hand plan preparation and land legal matters.
• Manage survey, GIS and data administration projects.
• Control contractual and professional appointments and ensure sound financial management of the section.
• Administer and manage the financial affairs of the engineering and data services branch.
• Handle information management and administrative duties.
• Liaise with the public, community leaders, contractors and other technical staff.
• Ensure administrators, design and maintain disaster recovery processes.

Required profile

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or another related qualification; a postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) is preferred.
• Registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) / ITESSA PLATO.
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• 6 years of relevant experience; 7 years preferred.
